Hexagons of Hope

Hexagons of Hope

Mrs Ford has been involved in a very interesting project with schools in the Norwich area, which links with Refugee Week, happening nationally from the 15th June.  The project is called ‘Havens East’, and uncovers the forgotten stories of Basque child refugees who sought sanctuary in Cambridge and Norfolk during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).

The project also has links with a day of welcome for refugees, and creating schools as places of sanctuary.  A School of Sanctuary is a school that is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all, especially those seeking sanctuary. This could be people whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space of safety.  They have created a hexagons of hope art project.  Here are some examples of the hexagons of hope we have created in school.
