Dental nurse talk

22nd January 2018
The NHS Dental Health Care nurse is visiting classes 1-6.

She is teaching the children important lessons about caring for your teeth.
She says:
  • Brush your teeth with a grown up toothpaste, as it has more fluoride, which is good for your teeth.
  • When brushing your teeth, spit out the toothpaste and never rinse your mouth with water afterwards. This will leave some toothpaste on, helping teeth stay strong.
  • The more times a day you brush your teeth the better. Twice a day is good, but three times is great!
  • Night time is when teeth are most at risk. Brush just before you go to bed and only drink water at night.
  • Sugary foods are bad for teeth, only have these at meal times. Snacking in the day means there is sugar on your teeth all day.
  • Visit your dentist regularly.
