Class 6 visit to Amey Recycling Centre

2nd November 2018
Class 6 had a fascinating trip out to see the Cambridge Recycling Centre , near Waterbeach. The children have been learning about recycling and composting at school. On the trip they had a 'rubbish sorting' activity, then got dressed in hi viz jackets and hard hats, and went for a tour of the site. They saw the huge recycling machines and the green waste composter. They saw where all the city's green bins get emptied, and how the green waste is turned into compost that can be used in gardens. The children then made their own recycled plant pots. They are made of old newspaper, which can be planted into the ground. They were able to plant an onion or a flower each.
What a fascinating trip! The children have come back to school inspired to increase their own recycling.
