Eco- Committee

18th March 2022
The KS2 eco-representatives met the volunteers from ‘On the Verge’, who are helping us to create our wildflower meadow, to learn all about birds and how they make their nests. They looked at the various bird boxes which are going to be hung around the school grounds and talked about how different species prefer different nesting sites. They talked about birds they had seen and looked at a real bird’s nest together. They gathered nesting materials for the birds and hung them in the trees for birds to find. They also noticed different types of butterflies which were already exploring our wildflower meadow site, including peacock butterflies, red admirals and brimstones. It was a beautiful afternoon and the children enjoyed talking about protecting and encouraging nature.
