Be The Rainbow 2017

22nd February 2017

Cambridgeshire County Council marked LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) History Month 2017 by flying the rainbow flag at its headquarters at Shire Hall, Cambridge during the month of February.  Children, parents, carers and staff from Arbury Primary school chose to meet after school to form their own human Rainbow and show support for LGBT History Month.

Dear Mr Tull

I'm currently a County Councillor who's been very involved in the council's diversity and equality work.

I am therefore delighted for the second year that your school has created a human rainbow flag.  Mrs Whiting has just shown me the splendid photos that are on the school website.  What your school is doing is bold and beautiful.  It is both personally, and as a councillor, hugely inspiring to see the great work that your school is involved in.

I am certain that many who see the photos will be encouraged that whoever we are, there is a welcoming place in society and community.  I know from experience that some of the children will either now or in the future look back and feel included.

Please pass on my thanks to all children , parents ,guardians and staff who have made this happen.

Best wishes

Ed Cearns

County Councillor
