88 Pianists

19th August 2019

Back in December 2018, our children in Year 3 took part in a challenge to help a team of musicians and engineers to set a world record for the greatest number of people playing a piano at the same time - 88! Taking inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci, the children created mechanisms to play chime bars and then designed their own finger extensions to help the team break the world record.

The winning designs were constructed by engineers and 88 Pianists was performed as the opening event of the General Assembly of the International Academy of Production Engineering (CIRP) at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham on the 19th August 2019.

The event was covered by The One Show on August 20th 2019.
