Doctor visit to both Reception classes

16th July 2018

Class 1 and 2 had a lovely home time when one of the Mums arrived wearing her doctor's clothes and told the children all about what happens when you call 999 and what is inside an ambulance. She explained what a stethoscope is, and some children got to have a turn and could hear their own heart beating. She has experience of doing heart operations, including triple bypasses, and the children learnt all about how the heart pumps blood round the body to and from our organs, and how our heart is protected by our rib cage. She explained reasons why people need to visit A & E, for example when you break a leg. She showed the children some doctor clothing, and even gave each child their own doctor mask as a present to take home! She explained that these help prevent her infecting a patient, or vice versa, when operating.
