On Thursday, Year 6 were visited by five scientists from the University of Cambridge. During this visit, they discussed lots of knowledge about the brain and why it is such a vital organ. The scientists explained that the brain is made up of over 86 billion neurons and that each of these individual neurons has 1000 connections! The children were then able to hold 3D models of different brains and guess which creatures they belonged to. We were so surprised to see the size of a rhino’s brain! After that, the children took part in a variety of mini activities which focused on how they behaved. The scientists then explained this behaviour and linked it back to how our brains were functioning – it was fascinating! Take a look at some of the pictures below to see how we got on!
