Evolution Topic

'In year 6 we have been learning all about Evolution and Adaptation for our science topic. This week the children have been learning about how natural selection leads to evolution by finding out about 'Darwin's finches'. Darwin discovered several different finches living on the different islands of the Galapagos.  He developed the idea that the finches had a common ancestor but had evolved over time so that their beaks were better adapted for the specific types of food on each island. The children had to use different implements as 'beaks' and see which food they were best at grabbing. It was lots of fun and helped us to really understand Darwin's discoveries around evolution.'
