Class 1 Kandinsky Art

5th July 2021

"Class 1 have been reading ‘Katie and the Picture Show’ by James Mayhew this half term. While reading, we discussed the difference between realistic and abstract artworks featured in the book. We learned that with realistic artwork you can tell immediately what it shows whereas with abstract art it can represent a person, idea or feeling. Today we had a go at creating our own  version of two artworks by Wassily Kandinsky."

"This is ‘Colour Study: Squares with Concentric Circles’. We noticed the shapes and colours we could see and then had a go ourselves using oil pastels."

"This is ‘Yellow, red, blue’. We noticed how the different shapes overlap and are arranged on the artwork and then we cut up paper into different shapes to have a go at creating our own."
