Black History Month - Kanya King

9th October 2023
In our Monday assembly, we learned a bit about Kanya King.  Kanya was born in London and was the youngest of 9 children in her family.  Her father was from Ghana and her mother was from Ireland.  After going to university, she worked in television and over time, began to feel that the music of black artists was not being celebrated as it deserved.

She went on to found the MOBO awards, which have been going since 1996.  She also mentors and supports young musicians through the 'MOBO Unsung' project.
