Science Impact

Impact

Teachers primarily assess pupil progress in science through questioning and low stakes quizzing, observations during lessons, verbal feedback and pupils’ work. Regular opportunities for retrieval and reviewing previously taught material ensure that teachers have opportunities to identify and address gaps and misconceptions.  This also helps to ensure that the knowledge taught ‘sticks’ and that the children remember more and make links between units of work.

Attainment steps for science are given each half term and by the end of each key stage, pupils are expected to know, apply and understand the matters, skills and processes specified in the relevant programme of study. Progress in science is reported to parents in end of year written reports.
