We have received our Silver Award for our eco-schools work, working towards creating a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly school. Last year, the eco-committee worked together, meeting weekly, to organize actions and events within school to work towards this award. The award also recognises curriculum work completed in class. In our school, each year group has an environment-based topic and this is very important to us as we want to equip our children to understand and protect our planet. At the minute, exciting preparations are underway for our new eco-committee to form with each class having a representative on the committee. Due to current circumstances, the committee will function differently this year with a virtual committee group on eSchools. Each class has been asked to discuss our final action to achieve our Green Flag Award, which is focused on waste in school. The committee will then gather these suggestions and decide our next steps.
Each class has now elected their representative and the new eco schools committee has been formed! This group of children will be encouraging their peers to work towards achieving our Green Flag Award.
Our final topic is waste and classes are in the process of choosing what their focus will be. Watch this space! If you are inspired to take action at home, then let Miss Sheldon know by messaging on eSchools.
